Dovecot Studios commissioned Sarah to create a media buzz around the opening of the Orla Kiely: A Life in Pattern exhibition.

Orla Kiely’s time in Scotland was limited, so McDaid PR had to work quickly to achieve maximum impact, liaising with Dovecot Studios and Orla’s team in London.

The Scotsman magazine ran a multipage feature the weekend before the opening and placed Orla on the cover, photographed at home among her bold designs.

BBC Radio Scotland and STV both broadcast interviews with Orla on preview day and a dynamic photocall against a wall of handbags secured coverage in the Guardian, Times, Independent, Metro, Herald, Scotsman, National and more.

Follow up coverage appeared in the Sunday Times, the List, the Skinny, Art magazine, the Edinburgh Reporter and the Wee Review.

The result? A high-impact opening, a sold out preview evening and one of Dovecot’s most successful commercial exhibitions ever.

“McDaid PR were creative in approach to our campaign and helped us make a big splash for our Orla Kiely exhibition.

“Whether working with a high-profile public figure or a member of our team, Sarah was professional and creative with an ability to spot a story.”

Susan McAteer, marketing manager of Dovecot Studios
